The Third Form at St. Clare's

''The Third Form at St Clare's'' was written by Pamela Cox in 2000 in a continuation of the ''St. Clare's'' book series as the fifth installment of nine books including her own work.
== Plot ==
The twins Patricia and Isabel O'sullivan are going back to school with their livewire friend Carlotta discussing who could be the head of the form. Mrs. O'Sullivan suggests a disbelieving Carlotta and the twins talk about how they would feel if one were chosen. As they drive on, they notice that someone has bought the nearby stable to their school and live there. The three girls meet Libby Francis, a friendly horsewoman who happens to be in their form and school, her rather misogynistic brother - horseman too, and her doll like cousin Fern, also in their class, whom the girls believe would be a perfect match. The two girls are to be day student at St. Clare's, and as the fathers repayment, the girls are allowed to ride at the stables, whenever they want.
Later on the girls arrive in school and inform the others about the new girls. They meet Alison already hanging out with someone - a girl named Rachel Denman, the daughter of two well-known actors. She believes she would naturally become an actress. She gives off the wrong kind of vibes as though she considered herself a goddess among ''"we ordinary mortals,"'' remarked by Carlotta. Janet and Hilary have a similar discussion about who would be the head girl. Hilary suggests Janet and suddenly, Janet too believes it should and would be her.
Alison finally meets Fern who turns out to have the same interest as her and they become fast friends much to Rachel's dismay. Fern and Rachel begin to have a feud over Alison. Their new teacher, Mrs. Adams, announces the new head girl, which turns out to be Carlotta, like the twins mum had said. But Janet was feeling very jealous and upset believing it to have been her to have been the head girl. What had really happened, was that the two mistresses(Miss Jenks of 2nd form and Miss Adams), Miss Theobald and Mam'zelle. It had been a close thing between Carlotta and Janet, with the final decision being that Carlotta would lead this term, Janet the next. Miss Adams lays another piece of interesting news that their form is to produce an end of the term play, much to the girls delight, Carlotta announcing a meeting at tea-time.
